Lucy came in to us as the very definition of rescue. She was a homeless mother with six puppies. She and her puppies were in a shelter for many days. They were running out of time. They were on the euthanasia list.

We brought this brave and strong, two year old mother into our rescue, because no one wanted to face the alternative. Lucy has done an amazing job with six little puppies when you consider the odds that were stacked against her.
In the beginning she was fearful and quite protective. However, she has made an amazing transformation. As soon as she received love and care and kindness, she realized she had finally found safety. Lucy has become a very loving dog. She accepts her role as a mother, but she is desperate for a time when she can be the center of attention. She loves to sit in your lap and she loves when she is being petted and held.
Lucy is very content to spend time in the kennel, and she is potty trained. She loves the nine-year-old human that is in the house and interacts with all the dogs in the home very well as long as they stay away from her puppies and best of all she is enjoying squirrel chasing in the yard.
Her favorite person in the house is which ever one that is in the kitchen. She does take treats from your hand gently.  Lucy will need to put on a little weight but when her duties as a mother are done.  She’s going to be a really pretty dog.
Lucy is going to make an excellent addition to somebody’s family and would make a great companion for even a single person. She likes to be with you no matter where you are in the house, but will lay quietly in a chair. She doesn’t seem to have any bad habits that we have observed thus far.
Lucy isn’t quite ready to find her forever home because she must finish her duties to her puppies and then be spayed and healed. So get your application in now, if you’re already approved, get your name on the list now to make this sweet girl yours when the time comes.
