Hi, they tell me my name is Saint Patrick but in the house I am in now they call me Paddy. I am not sure I ever had a name before. I am 4 years old and weigh only 11 pounds. My foster mom says I am very timid but the truth is I am just flat terrified.

Not much is known of Paddy up till now. He was a stray picked up loose but his former owners surrendered him. Through the admirable work of a shelter “Friends” group he was evaluated by an active volunteer and Diamond Dachshund was contacted to help Paddy find a new life.

Patty came in to rescue very shy and very scared but he has warmed up to attention that has been given to him. He has received his shots, been wormed, and treated for fleas and ticks. His first bath went pretty well, considering how frightened he was in his new surroundings.  Paddy is well behaved in the kennel, but he doesn’t really like to be put in the kennel. He is learning to enjoy a new food ration that he seems to like however, currently he is not food motivated.  That most likely comes from fear and miss trust and we expect that to get better.

The first couple of days with his new foster, he did try to dig under the fence. His future family will have to be attentive to that possibility.  Paddy relates well to everyone in the household both dogs and people. He does want to hide under the furniture out of site. We believe this is because when he was on the streets, he had to hide to try and stay safe.  We look forward to him becoming more comfortable, and in fact, he has occasionally claimed a cushion on the foot rest in the living room. There he lays very quietly.  He has soft gentle eyes that tell you he wants to trust and love you.
