Miss Betty, named for everyone's favorite Golden Girl, Betty White, was found running free on the streets of San Antonio covered in fleas and very dirty. A good Samaritan picked her up and got in touch with us. Now that she's free of fleas and has a warm place to sleep, she's really showing us just who she is: from "talking" to us when she wants something (fairly frequently), to snuggling up in covers, she really knows what she likes. Honestly, at around 9 years old, best guess, she SHOULD know what she likes! She likes wearing a warm sweater since she's missing a lot of fur from her flea infestation, she LOOOOVES people food, she DOES NOT like grass (but she will potty outside), and she has figured out the ramp to the couch! She's really a sweet tiny girl with a spunky disposition who will feel much better once we get all her medical needs taken care of! She's started playing with the pitbull in the foster home and shows that playtime with another dog is something she desires. Betty will loudly let you know when she wants on and off the bed and though she won't use the doggie door, she will also let you know when she wants outside. Unfortunately, Miss Betty wasn't taken care of very well and she is in DESPERATE need of a dental-- she will most likely lose many teeth in the procedure and may have fistulas (holes from her gums to her nasal passages) when the teeth are removed. Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!
