Meet Susanna Alamo

There once was a little girl that was 3 who found herself lost, lonely and living on the streets. And if that wasn’t bad enough she had a secret. Like so many in the past she came to the old mission, the Alamo, to take refuge to defend and protect her family, and find help.

Susanna searched the crowd for a good samaritan and found two folks willing to share her secret. She led the caring people to her hiding place in an alley nearby. There they found her babies, two little puppies. Now a family of three in need of saving.

Susanna is an amazing little dog. She only weighs about 9lbs. But like all the heroes of the Alamo she commands a much larger stature. She is very smart and very brave. She sacrificed herself for her babies and protects them with all resolve. She wants to be loved and to be your loyal friend. Maybe almost too loyal as she has now taken on the role of the commander of the entire Texan family that now serve as her fosters.

Susanna is the little general and likes organizing her garrison. As she becomes more comfortable she has shown a desire to play with toys and loves being in your lap. She is quiet, house trained, and cooperative but takes her job of directing her people very seriously. She can do all that and protect and play with her babies. She trusts quickly, begs for food politely. She is getting along pretty well with her foster siblings but can be a little pushy, especially where her puppies are concerned. She even likes protecting family members from the other dogs.

We can only imagine her stay on the streets. What storms did she live through? She has so many endearing qualities. We named her Susanna for Susanna Dickinson the notable woman surviver of the Alamo. Like her name sake she is a survivor and got her babies to safety with DDRTX. She will need some vet care before she is ready for adoption but she is worthy of a hero’s welcome!  If you would like to sponsor her during this time, please click the sponsorship button below!
