"If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything." At least, that's what my Dad said!

Hi! My name is Marty McFly and I have IVDD and even though I have NO deep pain sensation and NO nerve sensation in back legs, I HAVE LEARNED TO WALK AGAIN!!!! I do what is called "spinal walking", which is like walking based on muscle memory-- it's wobbly, but I can even RUN!!! I'm not in any pain, my foster mom is expressing my bladder several times a day, and I'm easy going about my limitations.  I'm a calm, sweet dog who loves people time, cuddling, naps, and my physical therapy. I CLEARLY used to be a really active guy and I haven't let this injury stop me. I take off with the other dogs every chance I get and I don't seem to think there's anything different or wrong with me. I worked hard at getting my mobility back and it was slow going, but I had a miracle recovery because I wanted to RUN! I want to play with the other dogs, I want to snoop around! I'm bored and I want to go DO STUFF! Don't get me wrong, I've tooootally fallen in love with lounging in the big bed with my foster family... but running with other dogs is super fun. I like other dogs, love kids and babies, adult women are great, but I'm a bit picky about adult men so I might take a bit of time to accept or warm up to you.

For a couple weeks we were working with a wheelchair but I actually prefer the freedom of walking unassisted! All my bloodwork issues have completely resolved and I'm totally perfect now. I am now 100% totally normal and happy, I just have a few special circumstance that an adopter would need to consider if they want adopt me! 1. My bladder needs expressing every 4-6 hours and it's really easy  2. I need physical therapy (at home or professionally) a couple times weekly to keep me strong  3. At home TENS therapy (very inexpensive) every few days seems to make a big difference in my ability to walk  4. I walk like a drunken sailor and will always need special considerations as I can't control my back end: jumping, climbing stairs, etc.

Please don't let any of that scare you! I'm a happy, healthy, loving guy with a FANTASTIC personality. My foster mom would be happy to be involved in helping you learn how to care for me so it will be very easy! I'm really an easy guy once you get the hang of me.

Listen friends and dachshund lovers, because of you, I am walking again. Your contributions helped me get to this point and I thank you.... if you'd like to help contribute to my continuing care, click the "Sponsor This Pet" button under my picture and you can be part of my journey. Love you, Marty McFly
