About Kelly Hope

Kelly Hope (or as I call her, Kelly Hops) is a 2 year old black and tan female dachshund mix that was hit by a car and her owner couldn't afford her treatment. DDRTX rescued her!

She had a broken front leg, a dislocated hip and broken pelvis. I don't know how she wasn't in more pain and anguish. She was as happy as she could be! What a will to live!!

Kelly is such a sweet and very loving girl, always happy and wagging her tail.

She had to have specialized surgery and came through it with ease. She took a few days to be able to stand on her own and we helped her walk around the yard to do her business. Before long she was able to walk outside, with help from a harness and leash. She was kept in her own area, but she decided that she would be better around her foster parents and the other dogs. She just hated being by herself. We let her sleep on a blanket by the couch and by the bed. She loves that!

It has been about 3 months since her surgery and Kelly is running and playing and being a fun dog! She loves to be loved!!

She is great with other dogs and she loves kids (not sure about babies or small children or cats). She loves to play with the other dogs and wrestle and chase. She does hop some when she runs, it's really cute!! She needs a playmate because she is very social and loves to be beside the other dogs.

Kelly is still growing her hair back from where she was shaved for surgery. She might have a few scars and some white hair has grown where she had trauma, but she is so beautiful!

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.
