Welcome to the Wonderful World of Rescue Dachshunds.  Look around and read their bios.  Find a few whose personality seems to fit well.  Consider one of our Well Seasoned Seniors who are truly wonderful and have so much to offer.  Need help finding the best fit?  We'll help with that too.  Please fill out an application and let’s get you all matched up with a loving new “furever’ companion and friend. You’ll find the application on the “Available Dogs” page.  NOTE:   Adoptions to Central/South Texas residents only

About Gabby Rose

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 20-0036
  • Color: Red
  • Current Age: 10 Years 8 Months (best estimate)

So, little Ms. Gabby... she does like to sing the song of her people. Lol. She runs outside when she hears the neighbors dogs and, in chorus with her foster brothers, sings the Ode to the Dachshund. It took her no more than 2 days to warm up to the new house and surroundings. She was quiet and curious about everyone and everything in the house. She uses the doggie door like a pro. She is good in a crate and goes in at night to sleep and, occasionally, during the day to chill. She likes to play with her humans but hasn't expressed much interest in playing with her foster siblings. I think she'd do just fine as an only dog. She's met neighborhood littles, and seems to be good with them, however she is definitely fine with older kids. I would NOT recommend a household with medium to large dogs as she did kind of stress out when she met the neighborhood gentle giant (a king shepherd). Overall, she's very smart and a sweetheart.
