Please, keep up the very good work. If only the Dachshunds can talk, I know they would like to thank you for all these things that everybody in your rescue has been doing for them. On behalf of all the Dachshunds in the World, Thank You Guys!
CommentsEnjoyed the site very much. Very informative. I was under the impression that an application to adopt was available at this location? Was I mistaken or am just to fat fingered to find it? Susie Leatherwood SLeath7620@aol.com
CommentsChristine, I think the website is beautiful, your descriptions of these precious animals is so touching its a wonder you have dogs left for adoption, I wanted them all. But for now am doing quite well with Trixie/Tiny whom we have had for almost 2 years. She joined Candy a rescue Heinz 57 from Austin and later by Prissy II a rescued chihuaha. All are fine and dandy thanks to people like you. Story to follow later. Cynthia in Johnson City

CommentsI visit the Central Texas Dachshund Website on a regular basis and when I noticed Christine's name not listed anymore I was very sad to think she was no longer involved in Dachshund rescue. Luckily I followed the link at the bottom of the page and it brought me to the Diamond Doxie Rescue site! I am sooo thankful that you are still rescuing Dachshunds...the world needs more people like you and your wonderful volunteers!! Thank you so much! Jennifer from Houston, TX
CommentsWhat a wonderful web-site! God Bless you for the work you do! My mother recently adopted a 2 year old female from Sunny Meadows Dachshund Rescue in Garden Grove, CA. Her name is Frannie and I believe she was originally with you in Texas. She's an absolute sweetheart. I am currently working with the same rescue to find myself a playmate for my 9 month old mini, Stella! Please continue the wonderful work you do! I was so sorry to hear about little Angel. Her foster parents must feel blessed to have known such a wonderful little dog. Vicki, San Diego
CommentsHi! My family was just thinking about owning a dachshund. I was looking through the sites and I think this one is one of my favorites. Jay from Waukesha Wisconsin
CommentsI just loved your website. I too have owned doxies all my life, the present one being Snickers, black & tan - miniture - age 5 yrs. Love him to death. Like my own.
CommentsDear Christine, In October my husband Jim & I adopted Prudy(a piebald little girl)through you and also adopted Spree(a red longhair male) from the CTDR site and in March we adopted Dusty (a wirehair male). This is in addition to our original little girl, Sweetie. Then in June of this year someone in our town of Llano found out we had 4 dachshunds. She approached us and asked if we would like another one! She had a 2 year old chocolate double dapple longhaired male that in her words, 'she just didn't have time for anymore.' In fact he had been living outside for some time. So since Jim & I are such suckers for doxies I said yes. He was neutered and on heartworm but was behind on his vaccinations. What a wonderful little boy!! How ANYONE could just discard him is beyond me. Needless to say he has fit right in. So now because of you and your dedication to these wonderful little dogs our doxie family is up to 5 plus our other dogs which brings the grand total to 11!!!! See what you started!? All 5 doxies sleep in bed with us which makes it somewhat crowded but we wouldn't have it any other way. I was so glad to have found your new site!! It is absolutely wonderful. Now I have 2 sites to visit and keep up with. It is plain to see this is a true labor of love for you and all your volunteers. Janet O'Brien, Llano
CommentsChristine, I'm VERY impressed with your site. Lots of hard work and imagination! Keep up the good work it means the world to each one of those Dachshunds that you save!!!! Donna AZ/NM

CommentsI was referred to your website by my meighbor when I mentioned that I wished I could aford dachshunds like hers. Your site is fantastic and very easy to navigate. I would like to ask a question or two, if I may. I am at home most of the time because I am going through kidney dialysis but my wife and I do have a 9 yr old and 16 yr old which means we do have errands to run. I think that a dachshund would be an excellant addition to our family. Our children love dogs and I think that I might be able to feel better with a little companion. And I might be able to get my wife to fall in love with dachshunds too. Could give us a call(I know you are so busy) or email and let us know what you think about dachshunds being the right dog for us? We really do appreciate all of your efforts and time. It's good to see someone still has a good heart in these tough times. You can reach us at email RBryant8@satx.rr.com We are Rick and Dora Bryant. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. God Bless and Good Luck in your continuing endeavors.

I know that all the dogs you rescue are so greatful to you and what you have brought to their lives. If they could only talk, they would love you so much. Put a star in your crown for all the great work you do for dachies. On my behalf, I am sending a special thank you from all the dachshunds you have rescued and given a second chance in life. At this time I have 6 dogs (4 of them rescues and 2 of them are daxies)but when we are ready we would like to adopt an older daxie or daxies as I have found the older dogs to be just delightful and dearly need a chance. CommentsMy wife adopted our dachshund name trooper, what a wonderful addition to our family. We are very happy with our dog. The Rios family Seguin, Tx
CommentsWhat is it with this breed that causes everyone to want another one once they experience a doxie dog? We have had one to two doxies since my daughter (now an adult) had one as a child. We are now down to one little mini boy a year old blk/tan 10 lbs in great health who could use a playmate. He is so sweet and we are retired in Kansas. He is our child and needs probably a sister (fixed) like himself. We will check in to spoil our Oscar with a little friend to romp with in our five bedroom two story house. We may take a trip to texas to get Oscar a friend.

CommentsDear Christine and Diamond Dachshund Rescue: What a fantastic website that reflects the tremendous work you and your fellow rescuers are doing !!!! Congratulations to you all for a job exceedingly well done and continuing to get done even better !!! I've just spent the morning reading each and every story and all the comments and they have brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face - all at the same time. Having rescued and adopted nearly 300 of these wonderful little guys during the early 90's I fully appreciate the work, the dedication, the strength and endurance you all have to carry on this blessed mission. I got my first Dachshund whose name curiously enough was "Kristina" over 35 years ago and two years later her 'velcro' companion "Koko" who was as opposite in personality from her as night and day. She was proud, determined and yes obstinate at times while he was sweet, cuddly and kissed continually. What a pair they were and oh the adventures we had as we traveled in Uncle Sam's Army! I have never understood how anyone could mistreat or abandon one of God's wee creatures and am so thankful there are great people like each of you that are daily correcting the misguided actions of thoughtless people and insuring that these little guys and gals get the loving homes and families they so richly deserve. The care, concern and consideration of the individual needs of each dog should serve as a model for all rescue groups in all breeds. My thoughts and prayers are with you all for continued success in this New Year 2004!!! Esther in San Antonio

CommentsI have had 3 rescue dachshunds in the past. A few problems perhaps in the beginning getting dogs healthy and trained in a new home but worth the reward in the end. I would love to adopt another and am crazy about the wirehaired Lucy on your current adoption list, but I am overseas with the military and can't take in a dog at this time. Alicia, UK

CommentsHi, We recently had to put down our precious Emma, a red smooth coat dachshund. We had her for ten years and it broke our hearts. Instead of going to a breeder, I decided to look at rescues first. We have lots of love to share. I saw a couple of doxies on your website that were of interest and would like to come visit. My husband is retired and I work out of the house. I have 2 house cats that were raised with Emma, who also miss their Emma. Thanks Diane Rapanotti d.rapanotti@roaminroman.com

He has back problems (he walks REALLY silly), almost no teeth and problems trusting humans. Over the last couple of months he has managed to take over our hearts. CommentsAdopting was the best thing for my family. Having previously bought a female Dachshund, I quickly caught the bug and had to have another. After finding DDRTX and then finding the right puppy, I realize now I made the best choice in adopting and not buying. Christine made the whole thing so easy and always steered me in the right direction. She is a wealth of information for anyone with a growing Dachshund family. The website is great and I enjoy looking weekly at the dogs that are new to rescue and see which ones have found good homes. Maybe one day my family will grow even larger.

CommentsI look at your puppies tonight. They remind me of my baby. I had a short haired red dachshund. One day last year I let him out and he followed some other dogs to the hiway. The police cheif of the other town next to us ran him over. I really miss him alot. He slept with me. When I was sick with my asthma he laid next to me. He would laynext to me will I watched t.v. When my husband wasn't home he would never leave my side. Thank you for doing this for others. These are very special dogs. They need alot of love and attention. Thank you again. And God Bless You for doing this. Diana North of Cardin Oklahoma
CommentsDear Christine, I never imagined I would be able to find the Dachshund of my choice with all the traits and training I was looking for. Much less so fast. I love my girl to death. I have been diagnosed with depression and had a foot injury to years ago which keeps me in pain most everyday. But my little girl doxy keeps me smiling and makes me want to get out of bed early in the morning. After the reunion I realized just how lucky I am. I did not know there were so many applications for my doxy. I feel very special to have gotten her. I don't have any children so I was feeling lonely. But now my life is filled with love. I may even adopt another after the first of the year. I absolutely loved the reunion. Thankyou for all your hard work. Cindy from San Antonio, TX, P.S. I love the song!!

CommentsI absolutely love your website! All the dogs are so cute and I commend you and your staff for doing what you do for these animals. It is such a misfortune what some of them have been through, but you are all angels for caring for them when nobody else would...... TRISTA from Boerne, TX
CommentsHi, I'm Gayle Ryter, currently living in Lufkin,Texas. I can't say enough good about what you guys are doing! I've had doxies (& Rottweilers)all my adult life and there's nothing like either breed. I like having an equal "mixture" of silliness & intelligence! You can figure out which is which!Ha! I am checking the I-net, etc trying to locate a shelter, or kennel, etc in my area for employment. I once was in Animal Control and quit, wishing to be involved in the "positive" end of rescue and rehab for dogs. Once again, I commend you on your life's work and will say good-bye for now, and may God bless you in all your endeavors.
