When I came to Diamond Dachshund Rescue, I had no idea what a couch, bed, grass, or even a toy was.  I was a puppy mill dog and Diamond Dachshund saved me from my awful life.  Since coming into rescue I have learned a lot and have worked very hard to learn to trust people again.  I am a very special dog who needs a very patient, understanding, quiet household who will allow me to come to them when I am ready and never push me too far, too fast.  I am about 3 years old and weigh about 13 pounds with a luxuriously long, blonde coat and cute brown nose.  I enjoy toys and playing with other friendly dogs, but I do not do well with children—though I am working on it.  Once I get to know you a little, I will start sitting near you or allowing you to touch me, but this all has to happen on my terms.  I know how to use a doggie door and am pretty good with most of my house manners though I will occasionally mark something that I think I should claim as my own.  I would do very well in a quiet, gentle, loving household of people who like to stay home and understand my need for space.  I have a lot of years ahead of me to learn to trust… I just need someone who is willing to help me learn.
