Introducing Flo Gemma, a 12 year old smooth coat black doxie weighing 16.9 lbs. She has soulful brown eyes and a sweet, mellow disposition. Flo recently came to our rescue when her owner passed away. She is thriving in her foster home and is a friendly joy to all who meet her.

Flo knows how to use the doggy door with the ramp, but she will also go to the human door and wait to be let out without barking. On cold winter mornings she prefers to have a warm coat on to go outside (me too!!!). She enjoys being outside & basking in the sun or sniffing around the yard, but mostly she is content to lounge in a dog bed while you go about your business. Flo enjoys cuddles and a little lap time but she is also a lady and not very demanding. She moves around pretty well as long as there aren’t a lot of stairs involved, in fact, she does the cutest little dance at mealtime cuz she loves good food!

Flo has lost some of her teeth but she is eating soft foods with gusto and doing well (she is scheduled for a dental this week). She won’t need things to chew on and she isn’t interested in toys... just people! Flo gets along nicely with her canine siblings and does equally well with children & visitors. She has a heart murmur but you wouldn’t know it to look at her because it doesn’t slow her down, & she’s so cute when she scampers around the yard that she makes her foster mom smile.

This sweet girl would prefer a stay at home adult or two, but if you do leave for awhile, she will happily greet you at the door when you return. Flo Gemma is a sweet little jewel who will be happy to just share pets & cuddles, make you smile, and just go with the flow!

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.
